I think it safe to say that this fixture weighed roughly 50lbs. The outlet box for the light had to be changed out from a finished ceiling with no attic access above. A new outlet box rated for the weight had to be installed from below the finished ceiling and securely fastened so that there wasn't any chance of the fixture crashing down on the dinner table later.
